Number of players
The number of players plays an important part in deciding whether the bluff made by you would be successful or not. You would want the number of players to be the least, in order to succeed with your bluff. This is because the more is the number of players at hand; more are their chances of calling you or possessing stronger hands than you. Also, with the increase in the number of players, more money is on the stakes, making it desirable for them to stay in. This might lead them in to NOT folding at your bluff, which would obviously mean that you end up loosing the bet. Having bad players or rookies against you can be a negative thing at times. Such players hardly know anything about bluffing and therefore, tend to call every call that you make, just in order to peep into your cards. This can result in a lost bet if you happen to carry out a bluff. Therefore, bluffing against newbies and rookies is pointless. You should ensure that your opponent has the brains to actually fold a bad card, which might other wise be better than yours. Being able to judge a player and his level of game play therefore, is an utterly important aspect of Poker in general and bluffing in particular.
